Just wanted to share this as everyone was so helpful to me. There was nothing wrong with the EGR valves. Next day I cleaned the passageway with a coathanger wire. This cable is intended to be used with cars and trucks using GM ECM/PCMs originally equipped with 12 pin ALDL connectors in the 1982 to 1995 era. I removed the EGR valve and plugged the passageway inside the plenum with the sparkplug end of an old sparkplug wire and filled the passageway with carb/choke cleaner and left it soak overnight. ALDL USB Cable Instructions This package includes an ALDL USB Cable, a CD ROM with drivers and ALDL software, and this instruction sheet. I took the car home and removed the MAF from the intake plenum and found that the passage from the intake plenum to the bottom of the EGR valve was plugged solid with carbon. I think there are 2 coils on the EGR and they were rather expensive to replace. The codes were showing that the electronic coils on my EGR valves needed to be replaced. He hooked up the obd I reader to my connector and piggybacked the obd II reader to the obd I and was able to read my codes and then he cleared my codes for me. Later I went to Autozone for parts for a different Olds, and talked to the guy there about my '94 Cutlass problem. For a very long time I just drove the car with the light on. I had the transitional obd system and it appeared that there would be no way to get my codes read through Autozone. You, very graciously, took the time to take pictures of the connector to make sure I was making the right hookups with the paperclip, and everyone went out of their way to share their knowlege to help me. '05 about my 94 Cutlass Supreme about check engine codes, as you can read about below.

On MOST ECMs the 10K ohm resistor either does not affect the ECM operation, OR the 10K ohm resistor is needed for data flow. Q - Why would I want to disable the resistor?Ī - On a few select ECMs the 10K O resistor is not needed for the data flow but does alter the idle speed and timing. Q - Can I disable the 10K ohm A-B resistor?Ī - Yes the 10K resistor can be switched off on the 12 Pin version. Q - Does this cable include the 10K ohm A-B resistor needed on many 12 Pin 160 Baud ECMs? Q.- Will this work with my 94-95 6.5 Turbo-Diesel?Ī - Yes it will however you will have to download and use GMTD Scan Basic (free) or GMTD Scan Tech ($) from Make sure you order the cable that fits your cars connector.
